Nestor Ivanovich Makhno, Little Father Makhno. A criminal Anarchist who was freed from Russian prison by the October Revolution, he returned to his home, Huliaipole, Ukraine, to lead a peasant revolution concurrent with the Russians. The Revolutionary Black Army of the Ukraine redistributed land & property & fought the nationalist Green Army, & the Tsarist White Army - at times aligning with the Communist Red Army in their fight. It is generally agreed that without the Black Army, the USSR wouldn't have come about like it did, if at all, without the decisive routing of the White Army in Ukraine. Unfortunately, the Makhnovist Movement was cut short by the Red Army's betrayal; 50,000 Cossack Anarchists were reduced to less than 250 who fled to Poland & endured exile & jail henceforth. https://www.marxists.org/reference/archive/makhno-...

Hundreds of hours have gone into just my art, not to mention the refreshing & reformatting of vintage propaganda, the production of buttons, the assembly of swag packs, & creating a means of distribution. Still, I suspect you & I would feel better if a profit incentive were replaced with goodwill spreading from good intentions. I choose these groups from suggestions & research & to be frank, any remaining profit I come into in my life will go towards scientific & creative research benefitting comrades - science & doing good are what brings me joy. So please, use these buttons as intended as conversation starters & tools of connection.

When learning to create the clothes I could not afford/buy at all, I learned many skills, including stencil making. Of my original designs, they are all either single or multi-color stencils. Interestingly, I learned I wasn't the only person who liked my art. I've been offered as much as 300 dollars for one of my vests & when I printed my art & stencils on buttons for YDSA recruitment, it caused a run on the market for college printing. Here, I put my art & reformatted propaganda of bygone eras onto buttons for you to enjoy. I found buttons, in particular, made good conversation starters. While I'm a punk who isn't averse to patches with four-inch lettering, more people & garments can sport buttons.

While I was the president of the YDSA at my college, I agreed with very little of their platforms. I am wholly committed to science & presently, those willing to talk about the various socialist tendencies are also those most inclined to consider alternative theories & evidence contrary to any political dogma, including their own. It is that dialogue that I value; however, publicly, I will say that Capitalism is materially unsustainable & I see many viable alternative ways of life that are realistic within our lifetimes & sparing the ones that would make great action movies; many are leaning toward the umbrella of Socialism.

While the figures in my button selection are mostly the 'good ones of the bunch' (with the notable exemption of Jules Bonnot), I don't condone hero-worshipping. There is much to find inspiring, interesting, & informative, but essentially nothing to be pedestaled, free from error. Too often, people's admiration for a historical figure turns into toxic behavior, emulation, & the harmful rejection of new information. Ultimately, I chose these historically significant, & perhaps overlooked figures to start more fruitful conversations. When I first produced beta-versions of these buttons, Marius Jacob started the most conversations because people mistook him for Houdini, but per capita, the Einstien pins, which came later, performed the best (conversations started vs. number of pins worn). I've found that in a polarized world with poorly organized options for in-person interaction, it's really hard for socialist-inclined people to find one another. But if two people recognize Kropotkin, the friendship montage music begins.
